Appointments are the gate — and payment opens it
Every in-person passport step in India runs through a booked appointment at a Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or a Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK). There is no walk-in queue. The sequence is fixed: register on passportindia.gov.in or the mPassport Seva app, submit the application form, pay the government fee online — payment is mandatory before booking — and then pick a slot from those your Regional Passport Office has released. Vadodara applications sit under RPO Ahmedabad; there is no separate RPO in Vadodara.
Where people lose time is not the booking click — it is everything around it. A form filled with a detail that contradicts your documents follows your file all the way to the Granting Officer. PSK Vadodara or a nearby POPSK — a real choice, not a default
PSK Vadodara is the full-service Kendra for the city: Aditviya Complex, Ground Floor, Behind Arpan Complex, Delux Cross Road, Opposite Era School, Nizampura, Vadodara 390002. It operates under RPO Ahmedabad on working days; live slot timings appear on the portal when you book. For most Vadodara applicants it is the natural first choice — biggest capacity, all categories handled.
POPSKs are smaller passport counters at head post offices. Under RPO Ahmedabad, the operational POPSKs nearest Vadodara are Anand, Nadiad, Bharuch, Godhra, Chhota Udaipur and Dahod (the official list is published at passportindia.gov.in and grows over time). When PSK Vadodara slots run weeks out — common before travel seasons — a POPSK an hour away can often take you this week. The trade-off: smaller centres, and some categories may still be directed to the PSK.

From blank form to confirmed slot

- Pay online — this generates your ARN standingCard, SBI internet banking and partner options have been the standard methods; the payment screen shows what is currently offered. Your Application Reference Number (ARN) identifies the file from here on. For Tatkal, the normal fee is paid online and the balance is typically collected once the Tatkal request is accepted — confirm current mechanics on the portal.
- Pick the slotAvailable dates appear per Kendra. Slots release in batches and popular centres empty fast; we watch availability across PSK Vadodara and the nearby POPSKs and book when a workable date appears.
- Print and prepareAppointment confirmation with ARN printed, originals and self-attested photocopies assembled against the Document Advisor list, checked by us the day before.

Inside the Kendra you move through three zones after token issue: Zone A, where the Citizen Service Executive scans documents and captures photograph and biometrics; Zone B, the Verification Officer; Zone C, the Granting Officer whose decision shows as "Granted" in tracking. Allow a couple of hours end to end, and arrive a little before your reporting time — not an hour early, which the token system simply absorbs.
Rescheduling exists — but it is not a strategy
Life happens, and the portal lets you reschedule a booked appointment. But the allowance is limited — historically two reschedules within a year of the first appointment before the application lapses — and a lapsed application puts your paid fee at risk, since passport fees are generally not refunded. Confirm the current reschedule limit on the portal before relying on it.

We cannot create slots that do not exist, jump queues, or promise a specific date at a specific Kendra — availability is entirely in the RPO's hands. Anyone selling "confirmed next-day PSK slots" deserves your scepticism. What we deliver is diligence: an application filed right, every centre option checked, the slot booked the moment one appears, and a file that clears the Kendra in one visit.
