Changing your mind, and what it costs
You can cancel any job with us at any time — no notice period, no reason required, no penalty for cancelling as such. What you can recover depends on how far the work has gone and how much of your money has already left our hands for a government fee. This page sets that out stage by stage.
This policy covers cancelling work in progress. Money already paid is dealt with alongside our refund policy; the two are meant to be read together.
How to cancel
Tell us. A WhatsApp message to +91 94267 80195 saying you want to stop is enough — there is no form and no notice period. Cancellation takes effect from the moment we receive it, and we will confirm in writing what stage your file had reached and what that means for your money and your documents.
Stage by stage
| Where the work has reached | Our professional fee | Government & third-party costs |
|---|---|---|
| Quoted, not started You have a price but we have done no work | Nothing charged | Nothing paid out |
| Started — documents reviewed, drafting begun | Charged in proportion to work actually done; the balance refunded | Refundable if not yet paid out |
| Drafted and ready, not yet filed | Charged in full — the work exists and the draft is yours to take | Refundable if not yet paid out |
| Filed or published Lodged with a department, portal or processor | Charged in full | Not recoverable by anyone |
Where we charge in proportion, we tell you what was done and why it comes to that figure. Anything that has been drafted and paid for belongs to you and will be handed over, whether or not you go on to use it.
The line that matters: has anything been filed?
Government publication fees, processing agency charges, newspaper advertisement costs, Certifying Authority fees and stamp duty are paid to third parties, not to us. Once they are paid, they are gone — no agent, ours included, can recall them. Before that point almost everything is recoverable; after it, only our own fee is in question. If you are having second thoughts, say so before we file, and you will lose very little.
Some things cannot be cancelled after issue
A published gazette notification cannot be unpublished. A Digital Signature Certificate, once issued by the Certifying Authority, cannot be returned. An e-stamp, once generated, follows the stamp authority’s own rules on refunds, which are outside our control. A notarised document has been notarised. In each case the thing you paid for has been delivered, and cancellation from that point means stopping any further work rather than undoing what exists.
Getting your documents back
Every original you gave us is returned on cancellation — immediately, without conditions, and regardless of any disagreement about fees. We do not hold documents as security for payment. Collect them in person, or send someone you have authorised in writing. Our document handling policy covers this in full.
You may also ask us to delete the digital copies of your documents at the same time, and we will, subject to anything the law requires us to retain.
If we cancel
Occasionally we have to stop work ourselves. That happens where documents presented to us appear to be forged or unlawfully obtained, where we are asked to make a statement we know to be untrue, where instructions are so unclear or contradictory that proceeding would risk your money, or where the working relationship has broken down. In every such case we tell you the reason, refund our fee for anything not yet done, return your documents, and give you the file references you need to take the matter elsewhere.
Ongoing monthly services
Monthly GST return filing runs month to month with no lock-in. Tell us before the next filing period begins and it stops there; you are charged for periods filed and nothing beyond. We will confirm which periods have been filed and which remain outstanding, so that whoever takes over knows exactly where matters stand. Statutory late fees for periods missed after you leave are not ours to carry, and we will say so plainly rather than let you assume otherwise.
Rescheduling instead of cancelling
Plenty of cancellations are really postponements — a document is missing, a family situation changed, money is tight this month. There is no charge for pausing a file, and no expiry on a quote we have given you. Tell us to hold and we will hold, with your originals returned in the meantime if you would rather keep them yourself.
