Income affidavit — declare it once, declare it right
Scholarship forms, fee-concession applications and institutional files often ask a family to state its income on oath. The declaration looks simple; the rejections come from getting the income unit, the financial year or the figure's support wrong. We draft income affidavits that match the scheme's own definitions — in Gujarati, Hindi or English.

Where a sworn income declaration is asked for
Every admission season brings the same queue: parents holding a scholarship or fee-concession form with one line that stops them — "attach income proof / self-declaration on stamp paper". The situations we draft for most often:
- Scholarships — state and institutional schemes where eligibility turns on family income below a threshold, and the application accepts or requires a sworn declaration
- School and college fee concessions — managements granting waivers against a declared family income
- Category-linked applications — files where income enters the eligibility test; note that categories such as EWS generally require a certificate from the competent authority, with the affidavit serving only as supporting paper inside that application
- Hostel, welfare and assistance schemes — trusts and boards that ask for income stated on oath before extending help
- Informal earners with no payslip — drivers, shopkeepers, farm workers and homemakers who need their earnings put on record because no employer document exists
Scheme rules differ by department and change by year, so we do not promise that any particular scheme accepts an affidavit — we read your scheme's current checklist and draft to it. If the checklist says "income certificate", the answer is different, as the next section explains.
An affidavit is not an income certificate
The difference in one line: an income certificate is the government's assessment of your income, issued by the competent authority after its own process; an income affidavit is your statement of your income, sworn before a notary. Where a scheme demands the certificate, the affidavit will not be accepted in its place — and nobody outside the issuing authority, including us, can produce that certificate.
What we can honestly do on the certificate side is documentation support: draft the affidavit that the certificate application itself often requires, organise the income evidence, and prepare the application file for the government office concerned. The enquiry, the decision and the certificate remain the authority's alone, on its own timeline.
Many families need both documents in sequence — the affidavit immediately for an institution's file, the certificate later for a government scheme. Telling you which one your form actually demands takes us two minutes on WhatsApp and costs nothing; it regularly saves clients a wasted stamp paper. The same triage applies across our affidavit drafting service generally: the right document for the named purpose, or a straight answer that you need a different route.
What a scheme-ready income affidavit states
- The deponent. Usually the head of the family or the earning parent — full name, age, occupation and address matching ID.
- The income unit the scheme defines. Own income, or family income including spouse, unmarried children and dependent parents — declared member by member where the format requires it, with non-earning members expressly shown as nil.
- All sources, not just salary. Wages, business or trade income, agricultural income, rent, pension, interest — schemes measure total income, and an omitted source discovered later reads as concealment.
- The exact period. The financial year (or other period) the scheme names, with the figure in words and numerals.
- The purpose clause. The named scholarship, concession or application the declaration is sworn for.
- Verification, then execution. Your verification of truth, e-stamping at the applicable value, and swearing before the notary — who records the act but does not vouch for the figure.
On stamp value: the general affidavit duty under the Gujarat Stamp Act, following the April 2025 amendment, is understood to be ₹50, with ₹100 a common precaution; we confirm the figure in force when preparing your e-stamp, and our stamp paper and e-stamp page covers how Gujarat's e-stamping and verification works.
Declare a figure that survives scrutiny
Income declarations get checked more often than people expect. Scholarship departments audit samples; institutions compare declared income against fee-payment patterns; a figure sworn today can be set against bank statements, ITR filings or GST records tomorrow. The comfortable-sounding low figure is not a harmless shortcut — benefits obtained on a false declaration are recoverable, and a knowingly false affidavit is a prosecutable offence.
We will not draft an understated figure. If your genuine income sits above a scheme's threshold, the scheme is not for you, and no affidavit changes that. What we will do is make sure nothing legitimate is overstated either — gross versus net, one-time receipts versus recurring income, and agricultural income are frequent points where families overdeclare by mistake.
For salaried deponents whose declared income should reconcile with tax records, our income tax return basics guide explains what the ITR actually records; the official portal for your filed returns is incometax.gov.in. Aligning the affidavit with those records before swearing is far cheaper than explaining a mismatch afterwards.
From scheme checklist to notarised declaration
Photograph the scheme's form or checklist and send it on WhatsApp with your ID and a note of the family's income sources. We reply with a fixed written quote and any questions about members and periods before a single line is drafted. The draft comes to you in Gujarati, Hindi or English — matched to what the scheme office reads — for approval. One visit to our Chhani Jakatnaka centre then completes e-stamping and swearing before the notary; notarial attestation for our clients is arranged through Advocate N. J. Parmar, with 35+ years of legal practice behind the seal. Most income affidavits finish the same day.
Families preparing a full scholarship file often pair this document with others — a gap affidavit where studies were interrupted, or a residence declaration where proofs are in a relative's name. Bring the whole checklist and we will sequence the lot in one sitting.
The bottom line
You now know the process, the documents and the pitfalls. What we add is nine years of doing this daily — and a fixed price for taking the whole job off your desk. The quote is free; the time you save is yours.
