Overview

Get the upload right the first time

GST registration is filed in Form REG-01 on gst.gov.in, and the portal charges no government fee. What it does demand is a clean, consistent set of documents — the right proofs for your business type, with names and addresses that match across them. Aadhaar authentication of the authorised signatory, where completed, can bring approval within about seven working days. This checklist sorts the documents by how your business is structured.

Two things the portal checks hardest

Proof of the principal place of business and the identity of the authorised signatory are where most queries arise. Get those two watertight and the rest usually follows. Print this page (Ctrl+P) and gather your set.

Nine years. One promise.

Professional service at the lowest transparent price — the same promise since 2017, kept across 1,200+ applications.

By business type

Sole proprietorship

  • PAN of the proprietor.
  • Aadhaar of the proprietor (used for Aadhaar authentication).
  • A recent passport-size photograph of the proprietor.
  • Proof of principal place of business — electricity bill or property-tax receipt if owned; rent agreement plus owner's NOC if rented.
  • Bank proof — a cancelled cheque, a bank statement, or the first page of the passbook. (Bank details can also be added shortly after registration via a non-core amendment.)

Partnership firm

  • Firm's PAN and the partnership deed.
  • PAN, Aadhaar and photograph of every partner.
  • An authorised-signatory letter naming who will act for the firm.
  • Proof of principal place of business and bank proof (as above).
Registered entities

LLP and companies

Limited Liability Partnership (LLP)

  • LLP's PAN and Certificate of Incorporation.
  • LLP agreement.
  • PAN, Aadhaar and DPIN of the designated partners.
  • Board/partner authorisation for the signatory, and the signatory's DSC.
  • Proof of principal place of business and bank proof.

Private limited / other companies

  • Company PAN and Certificate of Incorporation.
  • MOA and AOA.
  • PAN, Aadhaar and photographs of the directors.
  • Board resolution appointing the authorised signatory, and that signatory's DSC (mandatory for companies).
  • Proof of principal place of business and bank proof.

Companies and LLPs need a DSC

Company and LLP applications are signed with a Class 3 Digital Signature Certificate. If the signatory does not have one, arrange it first — we issue Class 3 DSCs paperless, typically within 24 hours, so your GST filing is not held up.

The flow

From documents to GSTIN

  1. Assemble by business type. Use the correct list above; do not mix a proprietor's set with a company's.
  2. Check consistency. The name, address and PAN must read the same across every document you upload.
  3. File REG-01 and authenticate Aadhaar. We prepare Part A and Part B, upload your documents, and complete Aadhaar authentication of the signatory.
  4. Track the ARN to REG-06. We monitor your Application Reference Number and respond to any officer query (REG-03) promptly — the difference between a fast approval and a stalled file.

FAQs

GST checklist — common questions

Is there a government fee to register for GST?
No. Registration on the GST portal carries no government fee. Our professional fee for handling the whole registration is ₹499. Be wary of anyone charging a large 'government fee' for the registration itself.
Do I need a DSC to register?
Individuals and proprietors can usually complete registration using Aadhaar-based OTP verification. Companies and LLPs must sign with a Class 3 DSC. We can issue the DSC and do the registration together if needed.
What counts as proof of business place if I work from home?
Home-based businesses commonly use an electricity bill or property-tax receipt (if owned) or a rent agreement with the owner's NOC (if rented). Send us your situation and we will confirm what the portal will accept.
How long does approval take?
When Aadhaar authentication is completed and the file is not flagged, the officer must approve or query within about seven working days. Risk-flagged or non-authenticated cases can involve physical verification and take up to about 30 days.
Can I add my bank details later?
Yes. Bank details can be furnished shortly after registration through a non-core amendment, so a pending bank proof need not hold up your application.
